Census records in the town of Forestburgh, NY show that Mary (Brown) Thompson was younger than reported by the Republican Watchman. Given her age in the articles, it would appear she was born in 1826 or 1827 ... the 1880 census, about 1832 and the 1900 census, May 1831. She passed away in January 1919, at the ripe old age of 92, in Sparrowbush, NY.
"Aunt Molly" was a passenger aboard the ill-fated Steamer Arctic and was reported to have been the only female survivor. She went on to marry William H. Thompson with whom she had sons William H., Joseph J., Albert and Alfred (Thompson) and daughters Helen (Hill) and Ida (Ehrets).
Thanks to Peter McNeely for sharing this information. "Aunt Molly" was a friend of Peter's ancestor, Minnie McNeely. [Ref. FIND A GRAVE]
